After almost 18 months since his back injury that he suffered at Knockhill in 2023, Marcus Pett will make his return to the championship this weekend as the man from Boston looks to make his impact on the championship once again.

Pett returns to the championship following successful tests this past weekend as the multi-time race winner will continue to run his No. 79 car as he looks ahead for 2025. Pett before his accident at Knockhill was seen to have impressive success in Legends, starting his full-time career in 2018, he would take eighth overall in the standings by seasons end before taking his maiden win in 2019. A couple years later, he would have his best season yet as in 2022, he would finish fourth in the championship with another race win.

While 2023 looked to be another solid year for him, winning two races in the Elite Cup, the accident at Knockhill would end his year with a fractured vertebrae and damage to his spinal ligaments. But with Pett now making his return to the championship, he wants to look forward to more success in 2025.

When his return was announced, he said: “I’m really looking forward to getting back in the seat after a year and a half of watching from the other side of the barriers. Hopefully we will settle back in quickly and find the performance and results we had in 2023.

“We took the decision not to rush the return to racing and ensure the fracture was fully healed. I would like to say a special thank you to Dr Simon Johnson, a member of the BTCC medical team, who has been present from the time of injury through to signing me fit to return to the track.”

Round 1 and 2 of the season will take place at Donighton Park this weekend with a ton of action from the championship and all other forms of cars throughout the weekened.
